The Story

A landmark restaurant buildout for one of the most anticipated new dining destinations in the DC metro area.

Founding Farmers Alexandria is the award-winning brand's newest full-service restaurant, situated in the Oakville Triangle neighborhood and serving an all-day menu built on scratch-made food and American family farm sourcing. Opening a restaurant of this ambition requires more than great food — it requires a finished environment that matches it.

Working through general contractor Hudec Millwork, TCG was engaged to execute the complete scope of interior millwork and fixture installation throughout the restaurant. The engagement covered every major surface and architectural feature — from structural wood beams overhead to built-in and loose seating, decorative wall paneling, server stations, and the full door, frame, and hardware package throughout the space.

This is the kind of project where the quality of the installation is visible in every interaction a guest has with the space. Founding Farmers' brand is built on warmth, craft, and authenticity — and the millwork had to reflect all three. Every built-in, every panel joint, every piece of hardware is a detail their guests will touch and see on every visit.

Bar Area

The bar is where a restaurant's character announces itself. Getting the millwork right here meant getting everything right.

The main bar and dessert bar were among the most technically demanding elements of the engagement. TCG completed the installation of the front bar, back bar, drink rail, countertop substrate, and select rail — each requiring precise fabrication coordination and field execution to achieve the finished result.

The same exacting standard was carried through to the dessert bar area, ensuring visual and material consistency across all bar-related spaces in the restaurant. The result — a distinctive combination of custom shelving, detailed millwork profiles, and integrated fixtures — has become one of the most recognizable interiors in Alexandria's dining scene.

Extensive decorative wall paneling, both loose and built-in seating areas, server stations, and the complete wood door and frame package were all part of a scope that demanded careful coordination with Hudec Millwork and the broader project team to keep the buildout on schedule and on quality.
