The Story

A call, a proving ground, and a system that changed what retail installation looks like.

The relationship between The Construct Group and this national home improvement retailer began when TCG was brought in to support an internal product showcase — an event where vendors present upcoming merchandise to store managers ahead of the season. It was a proving ground, and TCG performed.

What caught attention wasn't just execution quality. It was a fundamentally different approach to the work. Rather than operating through the layers of a traditional general contractor structure, TCG took on the GC function themselves — fabricating, coordinating, and installing through their own team, using a proprietary wall system developed at their West Chicago facility.

What had previously required weeks of conventional construction — framing, fitting, finishing — now happened in days. Store teams were minimally disrupted. The footprint was cleaner. And when the displays needed to come down or be reconfigured, the same modular logic made that fast, too.

After the showcase, a company executive brought TCG back in a meaningful way — and a program was born.

The system

The Wall you see isn't just a display surface. It's the output of a process most companies can't replicate.

TCG's Proprietary wall system is built off-site at our West Chicago facility — fabricated, fitted, and staged before a single truck rolls toward a store location. By the time our crew arrives, the work is assembly and installation not construction.

Each panel component is engineered to integrate with the displays, cabinetry, and product systems going around it. The result is a cleaner job site, a faster timeline, and a finished product that consistently meets national brand standards — regardless of which market the store is in.

The system also solves for what comes after opening day. When a display needs to be refreshed, reconfigured, or replaced, the modular architecture makes that fast. The infrastructure is designed for the lifecycle of the program — not just the initial install.

The Difference it makes
What traditional retail construction measured in weeks of on-site work, TCG delivers in days — with less disruption to store operations and greater consistency across locations.

The Trajectory

From a first engagement to a national program in motion.

Every stage of TCG's growth within this retail environment has been driven by the same thing: demonstrated performance. Each successful engagement opened the door to the next, and the scale of the program has grown accordingly.

Act One
0
Store Pilot
An 8-store pilot program established the model — proving that TCG's system could deliver consistent quality across multiple locations simultaneously, with designs refined through the process.
Act Two
0
Store Program • Underway
A 50-store program is currently underway. The system is proven. The process is refined. The benefits of TCG's approach continue to be recognized and socialized across the broader network.
Act Three
National Scale • Projected
The trajectory points to a national rollout across hundreds of locations on a recurring cycle — a program that continues to grow as TCG's capabilities and the relationship both mature.
Sustainability

Responsible
by design.

The same system that drives speed and brand consistency also produces less waste, puts fewer trucks on the road, and returns usable materials to communities. That’s not a side effect — it’s a consequence of how TCG builds.

Near-Zero Waste
Near-Zero Waste

Full resets produce no more than a few garbage bags of waste once the infrastructure is in place. The system is designed to install cleanly — not generate debris.

Sustainability-focused
Sustainability-Focused

Wall systems and transfer components are built to be reused, not disposed of after a single install. Reusing materials and minimizing single-use elements reduces landfill contributions at every location.

Community Giving
Community Giving

When displays cycle out, the materials don't go to landfill. Cabinets, countertops, and fixtures are coordinated for donation to local families through trusted charitable partners.

Intentional Recycling
Intentional Recycling

What can't be reused is recycled. Sustainable disposal is the standard, not the exception — landfill is the last resort, not the default.

Environmental Impact

Consolidated off-site logistics means fewer trucks per store. Optimized routing and reduced truckloads lower emissions and transportation costs across the full program.
